Promoting awareness of forestry's contribution to environmental, social and economic well-being

  • Create a portal where people connect with and obtain information on how commercial forestry impacts on the environment, social and economic well-being. Facilitate media presentations including newspaper articles on forestry in Hawkes Bay.
  • Support meetings and field days for councils most impacting on and by commercial forestry (Hawkes Bay Regional Council and Wairoa District Council). Assemble data on the economic and social footprint of the forestry sector.
  • Assist any other national or regional awareness and promotional initiatives, including affirmative roadside signage and a ‘Share the Road’ programme to develop positive awareness in primary school children concerning logging truck safety. Build goodwill and understanding through events and forest visits by schools, council staff and other stakeholders.
